Some fans of House of the Dragon are convinced that Prince Daemon Targaryen is, or will become, the Night King from Game of Thrones.

However, the Season 2 finale has clarified whether this theory holds any truth.

But does Daemon’s vision of the Night King in the Season 2 finale confirm this theory?

No, the season 2 finale actually debunks the theory of Prince Daemon Targaryen being the Night King.

When Daemon touches the heart tree at Harrenhal, he freaks out seeing the future threat because of the Night King and his White Walkers.

He says that he is not horrified by the monster that he is about to become but by the monsters that are coming his way.

Similarly, do you remember the first thing that he told Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, his niece-wife?

Daemon says that Westeros must prepare for the impending White Walker invasion. Now, this is not a reaction that we would expect from Daemon who would become a “snow zombie” and destroy the Seven Kingdoms.

The evidence for Daemon being the Night King was always weak. Daemon cannot be the Night King as the ruler of the White Walker is much older.

If you are still wondering if the Night King is a Targaryen then the answer would be a ‘no.’

The Night King was one of the First Men who arrived in Westeros from Essos over 12,000 years before the Targaryen Conquest. The Targaryens weren’t around when a Child of the Forest turned this First Man into the Night King.
